Clinical/Therapeutic

The therapeutic team at Reflections for Youth, Inc. develops goals and assists each youth to achieve these goals through individual, family and group therapies. Upon entering our program, a youth receives an initial three day with the goal of addressing any emergency concerns and assisting him or her to adapt to the program. The next set of goals are outlined in the 10-day treatment plan which specifies social, emotional, family, substance abuse, medical/psychiatric, cultural, recreational and educational goals. Thereafter, a formal monthly review of the overall treatment plan and individual treatment goals continues to assess and review goal completion and progress. Throughout the youth’s placement, each clinician has constant consultation with counseling staff and management level staff in understanding and addressing the youth’s behavioral and mental health needs.

Reflections for Youth, Inc. employs four licensed clinicians (2 LCSW, 1 LPC, and 1 LMFT) and an intern who together have many years of knowledge and experience in working with adolescent youth in residential treatment settings. Our clinicians are experienced in working with ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Conduct Disorder, mood disorders including Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and other trauma related disorders, Reactive Attachment Disorder and grief and loss issues. Our clinicians have a diverse range of theoretical orientations and approaches/techniques which include behavior management, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered therapy, Play Therapy, EMDR and Dialectic Behavioral Therapy.

In instances when a referred youth has needs beyond the scope of practice of our clinicians, as in sexual offense issues, Reflections for Youth, Inc. contracts out with specialized licensed clinicians. The youth then receives specialized individual, group and/or family therapy focused on his or her offense specific needs. As members of the youth’s multi-disciplinary team, both sets of therapists maintain frequent and ongoing contact with each other in order to work as a full team to meet the needs of the specific youth.

Reflections for Youth, Inc. takes pride in our ability to provide competent and appropriate clinical services to meet the needs of our diverse client population. Clinicians communicate regularly through staffings, treatment team meetings, clinical meetings and staff trainings to foster growth in our clients, our staff and our program. Clinicians continually increase their own knowledge base through trainings, seminars and continuing educations classes and workshops. We at Reflections for Youth, Inc. are dedicated to helping youth leave our program with knowledge and skills necessary to make positive choices for themselves and to be successful in their community.
